Cotswold Self Binding Gravel is a very attractive golden coloured, self binding, suitable for paths, borders and cycle tracks. The range of gravel sizes that make up this self binding gravel ensure it compacts firmly and resists movement when trafficked. This product is ideal for applications where a firm surface is required whilst still remaining semi porous. Cotswold Self binding gravel should be placed in layers and rolled using a vibrating roller to create a firm surface. We recommend 50mm depth for footpaths and borders. Self Binding Gravel must be laid on a suitable compacted sub-base such as MOT Type 1 or preferably MOT Type 3 and it is essential that Cotswold Self Binding Gravel is laid with a camber or crossfall to allow water to disperse. Poor drainage is the number one cause of surface failure. This product must not be laid when soaking wet or bone dry as compaction will be lost.

This product can be used for paths, borders and general landscaping
This product can be used on a driveway provided the strict laying method is adhered to. The laying method must be followed to the letter and nothing but a free draining sub base used. The product should not be used on driveways prone to waterlogging or areas with poor drainage. Self Binding Gravels rely on drainage to stay compact. This product should be laid at no more than 40-50mm depth. Typically, one of our Bulk Bags will cover 10m2 at 40-50mm depth. For larger areas you may wish to use our quantity calculator located at the top right hand side of this page under the grey “How Much Will I Need” tab. Simply enter your measurements to reveal the required tonnage. Please be sure to enter the length and width figures in metres and the depth in millimetres to give the correct quantity.
Cotswold Self Binding Gravel needs to be laid in accordance with our installation instructions here.
This product should be trouble free provided it has been installed correctly! It may require periodic brushing to remove leaves but nothing more than that.
